Efficiency during navigation together with comfortable spaces, all in a boat only 18 metres long. This is the new OT60 by Omikron Yachts, which debuted during the Venice Boat Show 2023. The motoryacht, inspired by sail boat design, was a huge success among visitors thanks to its innovative style and eco credentials. The OT60 is a new model built by an equally new business.

GREECE’S NEW SHIPYARD

The Greek brand Omikron Yachts was founded in 2019 by the company, Olympic Marine, a point of reference in the Aegean archipelago for its complete large-scale services. The new brand stems from the vast skills garnered over the years by Olympic Marine through their construction of over 2,000 sailboats, alongside repairs and refitting yachts up to 100 metres. Construction of these new vessels will, however, follow a new approach focussed on sustainability and technology.

The Omikron Yachts brand was founded in the wake of a fundamental success for the company, the complex refit of the 107-metre long megayacht, Dream, a project which won the World Superyacht Award and landed on the cover of industry publications for its high standards. With other projects on the horizon, including a 177-foot super-fast sailing yacht called ‘Argo54” and the construction of other OT60s, the Greek shipyard is preparing to revolutionise the boating marketplace.

OT60: AN ELEGANT AND EFFICIENT ECO-CRUISER

The OT60 is a testament to the skills of Omikron’s technical department, who curated the interior of this revolutionary new vessel: an elegant eco-cruiser inspired by the lifestyle of the Eastern Mediterranean, with large open spaces and simple and modern lines. The hull was built using new techniques such as vacuum infusion, and the carbon fibre superstructure lightens the composite by one third in the upper part of the yacht, improving stability.

All carpentry and assembly are done in house. Behind the creation of this yacht, however, there is a touch of Italy. The interior and exterior design are the work of Lorenzo Argento, who developed the lifestyle concept. For example the large windows surrounding the deckhouse are the perfect solution, offering a nearly perfect 360-degree view, alongside natural ventilation. The abundance of natural light made it unnecessary to use reflective surfaces. The interior was curated by Ciarmoli Queda Studio, who chose natural materials, neutral colours and tactile finishes, inviting passengers to relax and enjoy the journey.

LOW CONSUMPTION

The pair of Yanmar 150 HP engines and a hull design similar to that of a wave cutting sailing yacht, allows the OT60 to cover 1000 nautical miles at 12 knots, while using only 1.5 litres/nm. Its maximum speed is 16 knots and its tanks can hold up to 1200 litres of fuel.
