New style for the fifth Arcadia A115: “It will be a 7-star hotel on the sea”
The design studio Hot Lab renews the exterior and interior of the “7-star” super yacht
It should be launched at the beginning of 2021, the fifth Arcadia A115, currently under construction in the Neapolitan shipyard of Arcadia Yachts. Thanks to the partnership with Hot Lab, the style of the interior and exterior of this splendid super yacht will be renovated. The Milan design studio, specialised in luxury vessels and among the winners of the 2019 World Superyachts Award, focused on lightness, both structurally and visually.
The key concept of the layout is the fluidity of space between the exterior and interior, resolved through the creation of a continuous design. All 140 square metres of the upper deck are dedicated to a single shared environment, at the heart of which is a full height, transparent jardin d’hiver.
“In the jardin d’hiver – explains Enrico Lumini, chief designer and partner of Hot Lab – we worked so that the transparency evident by anyone observing the A115 from the outside, is also enjoyed on the inside, with low furnishing solutions concentrated inside the space, far from the pillars and large windows. Also for large elements, like for example the 75-inch television screen, we concentrated as much as possible to lighten the visual impact, using, for example suspended solutions.
A further distinctive element is the arch that connects the forward area to the aft. “It is a very strong element – notes Lumini – distinctive in the A series of the Arcadia. Because of its correspondence, on different decks we have created analogous arches, which all recall the exterior design on the inside. In particular, I am referring to the lobby and stairs, spaces which are very important to enhance.”
The 500 square metres over the three decks of the living area include an apartment for the owner to the bow of the main deck, four double cabins for guests in the lower deck, the same number for the crew and an eventual ulterior cabin for the captain, connected to the bridge on the upper deck. A “seven star hotel on the sea” according to the designers, whose architectural shell has been studied to be integrated and enhanced by its content. This is a process where interchangeable “loose” components (meaning easily transformable) are predominant, in order to allow the owner full liberty to make substitutions over time.
Equipped in this manner, this allows for full freedom in type of use, both private and commercial, seeing as the previous units of the Arcadia A115, have been very successful in the charter market. “For this reason – concludes Ugo Pellegrino, chief executive officer of the shipyard – in the on spec construction of this unit, we decided to implement all the commercial specifications requested, so that the owner can decide, even at another time, to take advantage of this possibility. And in any case, even if you opt for private use, the characteristics requested by the charter class, will also become an advantage for the crew on board.”
