During the charter fleet event organised by Fraser during the Monaco Yacht Show 2023, the crew of the Columbus Sport 50M, m/y K2 received and award for best charter vessel over 50 metres. This is a yearly European competition which saw the participation of over 80 vessels.

The crew of the m/y K2 stood out for having done over 80 days of charter, for their extraordinary client reviews, and for having handled any problems aboard in exemplary fashion. This is certainly one of the most popular vessels on the market, with clients booking on even a year in advance. This is due to the amazing crew of 10 people, all with experience, in addition to the captain, Enrico Orselli, who also participated in the building process of the vessel at the Palumbo Superyachts shipyard in Ancona.

NAVAL ENGINEERING BY PALUMBO

The naval engineering for the Columbus Sport 50 was by Palumbo Superyachts in partnership with Hydro Tec, while the exterior and interior designs were by Luca Dini Design & Architecture. The Columbus Sport 50 M/Y K2 has a vertical, pointed bow, with double edged transverse sections to improve seaworthiness and keep the boat dry even in rough seas.

The interiors are clean, bright, harmonious and cohesive. The m/y K2 can hold up to 11 passengers in five comfortable cabins and the layout has pleasant outdoor spaces created for socialising and flexibility, allowing passengers to enjoy the various areas during the day, adapting them quickly into sofas for chatting, or areas for entertaining. Great care has been taken in making sure all areas are shaded, so they can be used at any time. The bar and dining area are located both inside and out on two decks. The Sky Lounge has a comfortable entertaining area, with a large screen TV, bar, and playing table.

THE EXTERIOR OF THE COLUMBUS SPORT 50M

The jacuzzi pool is on the forward upper deck and can be reached from the cockpit via two lateral walkways, making the entire deck a space for relaxing and fun. The fitness area in the owner’s area, on the forwards main deck, is 18m2 and is equipped with a functional well-curated gym next to the hammam located in the owner’s bathroom. The beach club, thanks to the extendible platform of around 4 m2 which opens automatically, offers ample space for relaxation and entertainment.

Zyricote and Tanganica Frise, two exotic essences, the reflective lacquers and steel details, together with the soft textures of leather and fabrics, modulate the atmosphere in each space. Also beautiful is the cappuccino coloured onyx marble and striped white Lasa marble used in the bathrooms. Completing the final effect, branded furniture, with a predilection for Fendi, but with an eye on the classics and the great sartorial tradition of Italian companies.

TOP PERFORMANCE AND QUIET

Another particularly curated aspect, from a technical point of view, is sound and vibration reduction, with extremely low levels of noise in the passenger sections; this is significant because these levels have been obtained with 85% of full propulsion power, at a speed therefore of slightly over 20 knots.

With two MTU 2000 HP engines, the m/y K2 can reach a maximum speed of 21.5 knots, a cruising speed of 17 knots and ample autonomy for transoceanic crossings. The multi touch bridge by Team Italia, in partnership with the Palumbo Superyachts team and the captain of the K2, was created by focusing on safety and manoeuvrability, allowing the captain to quickly adapt, no matter what the conditions.

The vessel has a tender and jet ski, respectively located to the bow (Castoldi Jet tender 21, 6.5 metres), and on the aft lower deck, (Seadoo 3.31 metres). The tender is towed and launched using a lateral aperture in the hull on the left gunwale.
