The 2025 edition of the Cannes Boat Show is just around the corner and, as every year, this French event marks the start of the major international yachting trade fair season. As always, the focus of the show will be on innovation and sustainability. We interviewed Sylvie Ernoult, director of the historic festival for more than 10 years, to find out all the latest news for this year.

The Cannes Yachting Festival is about to begin: what will be the biggest news this year?

Our job is to follow market trends and respond to the requests of our exhibitors and visitors, accompanying them in their development. One of the big trends today is definitely innovation, which will be very present at the festival this year. We will be awarding a selection of the best innovations on the market, and the awards will be presented by a jury of professionals. We will have four different categories dedicated to sustainability and innovation. Many visitors, especially the younger generation, are increasingly interested in these topics and eager to discover all the latest developments. The section dedicated to innovation and sustainability will be marked with a green label on each of the products included. Fifty projects have been selected from 700″.

How much work goes into a boat show like this?

“A lot. It’s demanding work, not just for me but for my whole team. Most of the team members start working on it at least a year in advance. As soon as we finish one show, we immediately start preparing for the next one: we talk to the exhibitors, take stock of the situation, and try to understand what worked and what didn’t. Then we meet, analyse visitor data, evaluate and take stock of what has been done in order to make the necessary changes for the following year. It’s essential work.”

What are the benefits of holding a boat show in the heart of a city like Cannes?

There are many advantages, because the show takes place entirely within a city that is undoubtedly famous and fascinating. Being inside it and having immediate access to the Vieux Port, walking along the Croisette and behind the Palais, is really a great added value.”
