Daily Nautica interviews Liya Hutchful, an architecture student at the Oxford Brookes University, during the World Yachting Summit

2 minutes of reading

The World Yachting Summit in Monaco was not just a conference of industry experts, but also an opportunity for everyone to explore the maritime industry. One example is Liya Hutchful, student of interior architecture at the Oxford Brookes University, who participated as a visitor to the event.

Sharing her experience with Daily Nautica, media partner for the Monaco-based event, the student explained her reasons behind her participation in the WYS and highlighted the connection between architecture and yachting.

The connection between interior architecture and the WYS

I have had – explains Liya Hutchful – previous experiences in the boating indistry: I’ve been on a boat a few times visiting different countries. What’s more, interior architecture is connected to people, their bodies and uses, and I saw that this is something concrete in the yachting industry, where everything revolves around the client. I love communication as well as culture, and I feel like the World Yachting Summit blends this all together.”

The communication aspect

I was able – adds the interior architecture student from Oxford Brookes University – to meet and talk to the speakers, who were very inspiring, and it is really insightful to compare the two world, architecture and yachting. I come from a very different background, but this experience has been an excellent base on which to build.
