On board the Nomad IV, a 100-foot carbon fibre sailing yacht built and launched in 2013 by the Dolphin Yacht shipyard, we interviewed Bernard Gallay, founder of Bernard Gallay Yacht Brokerage (BGYB), who is curating the sale of this unique vessel.

Making Nomad IV truly special is the perfect combination between racing performance and cruising comfort. “It is an extraordinary and very fast yacht – explains Gallay to Daily Nautica – but it is also an excellent cruiser.

A trip around the world

Nomad IV, which stands out for its elegant lines and building technology, is a vessel which has experienced the ocean in all its facets, travelling some of the most fascinating yet demanding routes around the planet. “It travelled around the world in six years, reaching the Antarctic and Patagonia – notes Gallay – and, now it has returned, we are taking care of the sale.

A vessel with adventure at its heart but also comfort, perfect for anyone wanting an authentic sailing experience but who also enjoys luxury; Bernard Gallay decided to showcase the vessel during the latest Monaco Yacht Show. BGYB, founded in 1994 in Montpellier, is now a leading company in the luxury yacht brokerage and charter segment, with offices in France, the Balearic Islands, the United States and Hong Kong.

Surprising spaces and onboard comforts

During our tour we admired the interiors of the Nomad IV, which are surprisingly spacious. “The cockpit – says Gallay – is quite large due to the width of the hull.” The yacht has 5 passenger cabins, an exceptional amount for a yacht of this size, as well as an owner’s suite, and two crew cabins, as well as a dedicated canteen with galley.

Going below decks, “you step into a large deck house – continues Gallay – with the charting table to the left and the dining table to starboard.” To guarantee privacy to passengers, “the crew – notes the founder of BGYB – also has independent access, so they have no need to go through the passenger areas.

Even though it is ten years old, the Nomad IV is still an advanced yacht for design and performance, thanks to the design by Finot-Conq Architects Navals. “It is a truly fantastic yacht – concludes Gallay – surprisingly spacious for its category and even now advanced in design considering the period in which is was built.” This is a boat tht will excite ocean enthusiasts, uniting elegance, engineering and a spirit for adventure.
