The 65-metre megayacht, built in 2002, is once again up for sale and is still recognisable thanks to its considerable size and refined design by Philippe Starck. To find out more about this queen of the seas, Daily Nautica interviewed Arjen van Elk, sales manager for Feadship.
Feadship Wedge Too: the “first” by Philippe Starck
The Feadship Wedge Too, built by Feadship in partnership with studio De Voogt, is the first yacht curated by Philippe Starck, who also worked on the interiors. At its time, it was the largest yacht ever built by Feadship and, even though that is no longer the case today, it is still a considerable size and has comfortable spaces, with its 9 cabins that can accommodate up to 18 passengers.
One deck is completely reserved for the owners, with an ample lounge and two cabins. On the deck below, the main deck, there is a saloon and 3 other VIP cabins, each with large windows and bathrooms, as well as a large dining room. On the lower deck are the other 4 guest cabins. Feadship Wedge Too also has a beach club, sun deck and two tenders stored in their own garage.
Large windows and Art Deco
The interior stands out for its decor and certain detail that make this vessel unique and customisable. “One very special characteristic of this yacht - explains Arjen van Elk to Daily Nautica - can be seen in its enormous windows, but also in the fact that all the furniture and decor are Luss: this means that is is very easy to change the interior for a new owner, making the yacht even more personal.”
On the outside, the Wedge too stands out for its geometric shape, giving it an Art Deco style, without renouncing the clean lines and attention to detail characteristic of the Dutch shipyard. “Even now, after 23 years - notes van Elk - it is an iconic yacht that everybody recognises.”
