When talking about building a new vessel, one of the most important first steps is rendering, meaning three-dimensional visuals. This is where the first ideas begin, giving shape to the design and simulating reality. Under this aspect, in the last few years, technology has made giant leaps forward, exciting boat owners and enthusiasts.

Starting with this premise, the Laini Studio team, specialised in three-dimensional graphics and home design, decided to explore the world of boating. Thanks to their passion and skills, Laini Studio offers an innovative and super immersive concept which will stimulate their clients. To better understand what making a rendering of this kind entails, Daily Nautica interviewed Edgar Laini, founder of Laini Studio 3D.

How did Laini Studio begin and why did you decide to work in the nautical industry?

Laini Studio was founded in 2004 with a passion for technical design and architecture, then evolving into incorporating three dimensional graphics, and finally specialising in 3D rendering. We decided to step into the nautical industry to expand our business, especially for the possibilities that nautical design offers, and because, from a graphic point of view, the ocean has always fascinated us.

Being a dynamic and ambitious studio, we are certain we can push ourselves to a higher level. With a series of plug-ins we can perfectly recreate the effect of moving water, creating renderings of boats and interiors that push us to get better and better. In the field of 3D graphics the development of landscapes and unique design is always satisfying, both for us doing the work and for the client receiving the finished product.

What makes Laini Studio stand out? What type of services do you offer your clients?

Laini Studio is made up of 4 people including 3D artists and architects, even though, depending on the job and amount of work to be done, we can count on a number of external partners. We are fully available to our clients to help make a 3D vision of their 2D project. We help them choose their materials, lights, best architectural solutions, until we deliver photo-realistic rendering that fully reflect reality, and most importantly, their vision. With computer graphics, there are an infinite number of different solutions and clients only have the embarrassment of choice.

How important is it to have a realistic and reliable image for a project?

It is fundamental to have a final image that fully respects the world surrounding us. We want to offer our clients a futuristic and immersive vision of the design. We want that, when they are looking at the rendering, they see exactly what the finished work will look like. For this reason we use programs for detailed 3-D modelling like 3dstudio max and advanced rendering engines like vray and corona renderer.

There is a lot of talk about the metaverse, could we say you are precursors to this technology?

The design process, 3D modelling and rendering for the metaverse, will also have a predominantly different component: artistic vision. It will be easier to experiment with innovative solutions or ideas that are different from reality. With computer graphics this is absolutely possible.

From houses to rendering boats, what is the concept you are bringing to the nautical industry?

Our company philosophy is that there are no limits. We already work with a number of large companies in fashion like Balenciaga, M.Kors, Versace, Ferragamo, Kiton to name a few. We want to increase the number of large partnerships and become a stable business in the nautical industry to share our experience and meticulousness.
