When it was launched in 2015, it was an epic enterprise to tow the vessel to the open sea as it navigated the narrow Dutch waterways. Canals that are certainly not accustomed to the transit of giga yachts, especially when talking about the Symphony with its 102 metres, it is the biggest giga yacht ever built in Holland.

No problems at all, however, for docking at the Marina Molo Vecchio in Genoa, where, with its tonnage it dominates over the entire Porto Antico, becoming the main attraction for those who love to take a walk along the piers enjoying the most beautiful and largest yachts in the Mediterranean. A few bollards further on, there are also the mooring ropes of Kauris IV, the new Wally 145 owned by Marco Tronchetti Provera, which we saw while sailing.

THE M/Y SYMPHONY

The m/y Symphony is 333’ (101.5m) long. Built by Feadship in the Netherlands in the Kaag shipyard, it was delivered to its owner in 2015. The interior has been designed by Zuretti. Its owner is Bernard Arnault, the president and chief executive officer of LVMH, a leading company in the world in the sale of luxury items. He is the head of the top French company, according to Bloomberg, the top in Europe and third at an international level as of 2019, with assets estimated to be around 113 billion dollars, including the Symphony, whose value is estimated to be 150 million dollars.

Symphony can comfortably host up to 16 guests in 8 cabins, including a master suite, a VIP cabin and six double cabins, pampered by the 27 crew members. Its large open spaces over various decks, offer every kind of service, including a bar, a hot tub and a large solarium.
The displacement hull is in steel, with a superstructure in aluminium and decks in teak. Under the water line, there is an ultramodern stabilisation system, that reduces the rolling effect.

Moving its 102 metres are four 1,909 CV MTU diesel engines (16V 4000M 73) allowing the vessel to reach a maximum speed of 22 knots and a cruising speed of 16 knots. Filling up the tanks means filling them with 256 thousand litres of fuel, but this allows the vessel to avoid refuelling for at least 5,500 miles sailing at 14 knots. The freshwater tanks have a capacity of 56 thousand litres.

On board there is a lift, pool, cinema, beach club, barbecue, tender garage, swimming platform, underwater lights, outside bar area, spa, sauna, heliport, separate hallways for the crew, an open-air cinema, massage room, the owner’s study, an observation room, a beauty centre, Turkish bath, dance floor, golf area, tee box, anchor stabilisers, wifi connection, a hot tub on the bridge, gym, library and much more.

On the main deck there is space for a 6 metre deep pool, with a glass bottom and waterfall, while in the modern engine room, there is an interactive multimedia screen that projects the images of the underwater cameras and information on the position, propulsion and all on-board systems of the yacht.
